I’ve been digging around the net for the past little while trying to find some info on this thing, but haven’t been able to turn up very much. Apparently it’s four VERY bright hot-lamps mounted in a steel case in just such a way that the position of the lights can be manipulated so that the case itself acts as a stand for the bank of lights. But, don’t quote me on that because, from what little info I was able to scrape up, I can’t be entirely sure if this particular model acts in such a way. Arel may have built other models with more or less functionality — I don’t know. I wasn’t able to find any real information on the company itself. But, hey! The thing sure as heck looks cool, huh?
Whatever the case ist, the auction currently stands at ten bucks. I know there’s some Photo-Gear-Heads out there who are more than ready to part with a ten-spot, plus shipping, just to add such a monstrously green, vintage-tacular metal-chunk of retro-geary decrepitude to their collection!
From the seller: “This is a vintage Arel compact V-Pak consisting of four photography lights in a blue-green colored metal case with handle. Case measures 6″x6″x5.5″ and shows wear such as scratches and scuffs from normal use. All four lights work and are very bright. One switch controls all four lights.”
The auction closes on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 7:45:00 PM – Check it out here.
